The municipality of Andratx is located on the
south-eastern part of the coast of Majorca right on the
ending edge of the Serra de Tramuntana (mountain range).
It stands from Palma at a mere 25 kilometres. This
municipality includes the following localities; Andraitx,
Port of Andraitx, S’Arracó, Sant Elm and Camp de Mar.
The mountainous region and the many small coves
littering the coast such as Camp de Mar and Sant Elm
configure the landscape. The contrast between the
mountains and the sea with its large and beautiful
valleys, such as S’Arracó and Andraitx, create a very
personal environment which attract visitors and tourist.
Well worth a visit is the new City Hall now situated in
the Castle of Son Mas. This emblematic building of
Andraitx has been converted into one of Europe’s largest
and most beautiful city halls. Besides the Port of
Andraitx, Camp de Mar and Sant Elm, there is also an
island located in front of the bay named L’illa de sa
Dragonera (lizard’s island).
Within the spectacular Bay of Andraitx, surrounded by
mountains, is located an important and exclusive marina
named Club de Vela de Andraitx. Here are found some of
the most impressive and luxurious yachts in the
Mediterranean. It is possible to anchor in the natural
port to shelter from rough seas. In the bay there is
also a tiny sandy beach in which bathing is allowed. The
cuisine offered in the restaurants of the port is among
the most prestigious of the island. |
