:::: Banyalbufar ::::
Banyalbufar is a tiny hamlet situated at the western en of the “Serra de Tramuntana” in which the land is abrupt and cut by many streams, cliffs and overhanging faces of rocks. Even with these geographical features the local economy was historically based on agriculture, stockbreeding and to some extent fishing, all primary activities. These activities brought about a peculiar popular engineering skill enabling the use of such abrupt terrain for agricultural use and also characterise the beautiful aspect of the village. It is the “marjades” a system of terraces that divide the mountainous terrain into steps and plots easily cultivated.
