Binissalem is located in the region known as Raiguer and
is known for its famous wines (with their own guarantee
of origin designation). This village, which has about
five thousand inhabitants, is situated roughly in the
centre of the island and is a frequent srop for visitors
heading for the northern part of Majorca. In the
village, besides the church and its magnificent
bell-tower, are found many noble houses. These were
built for the nobility of the 18th and 19th century. The
rest of the houses are typiclly styled as in the rest of
the rural Majorca. In this village are located a few
very notable wine producers.
