This is a genuine Mediterranean village. The native
dances, the traditional art-craft and the local cuisine
are all part of the identity of a village where the real
spirit of Moajorca is felt. Famous are the dances of san
Joan Pelós held onn the 24th of January or those of San
Agustin i Santa Margarita known as cavallets. The local
cuisine offers “arroz de pescado” (fish an rice soup)
and “frito de matanzas” (vegetables and pork). Worth
visiting are the traditional markets held at the
sanctuary of San Salvador and the castle of Santueri. On
the coast of Felanitx is located the largest natural
harbour in Majorca named Portocolom. Here are found fine
sandy beaches and coves and crystal clear waters in a
setting, which invites to practise water-sports such as
scuba diving, windsurf or sailing. Also pleasant is a
walk along the bay and the port, which has preserved a
genuine fishing port atmosphere. All of this makes
Portocolom an ideal destination for all visitors.
The easily accessible and also the largest beach of the
region, named Cala Marçal, is located in Portocolom and
there are also some virgin and paradise-like sandy coves
such as s’Algar, Cala Brafi, Cala Sa Nau, Cala Estreta
and Cala Mitjana. No one visiting the region should miss
them. |
