The municipality of Mancor de la Vall covers
an area of almost 19 km2 .
Located in the Northern part of Mallorca between the Tramuntana range
and the region of Es Raiguer. The Northern part ends in the Puig de sa
Fita (905 m) and borders with Escorca and Selva. To the West and South,
it borders with Alaró and Lloseta. It forms part of the region of Es
Raiguer.
Trough Mancor de la Vall, up to the mountains we access to "Biniarroi"
abandoned village dated from XVII century Built at 550 meters of
altitude from the sea level, which grants superb views to the mountain
and the sea in the distant.
“Biniarroi”, that is the highest village (llogaret) in Mallorca, the
name comes from the Arab word ”Ben un Ray”, that means ”the shepherd’s
house”.
Biniarroi in the XIII century had an important land value, because had
great quality of resources, three mills of water, several “almazaras”
(mills of oil), a very rich area in the production of oil, animals and
grain.
