Santanyí is a lovely rural and genuine village in the
interior lands of Majorca. In the last few decades the
built up areas have expanded especially towards the
coast due to the demands of tourism. The municipality
includes the following settlements in the interior
lands: Santanyí, Calonge, S’Alqueria Blanca, Es
Llombards and Costa.
On the coast are found: Cala Esmeralda, Cala D’Or,
Marina de Cala d’Or, Portopetro, Cap de Moro, Cala
Figuera, Cala Santanyí, Cala Llombards and Cala de
S’Almunia. The coast of Santanyí is very long (abourt 35
kilometres) and many interesting features can be found.
There are some very beautiful abrupt areas with
spectacular views and also many small sandy beaches and
coves which makes this area of Majorca a tourist’s
favourite. A large rock formation resembling a huge
doorway is found near the coast next to Cala Llombards. |
