SON SERVERA |
|
|
:::: Son Servera :::: |
Son Servera enjoys a small yacht harbour in Cala Bona, which may
accommodate boats with up to three-metre draft, in other words,
a small docking zone for the local residents. Cala Bona’s major
charm is the contrast between its two neighbouring communities,
Cala Millor and Costa de los Pinos. These are two heavily
developed tourist centres.
A small and modest lighthouse is located at the end of the Cala
Bona; it is a nice seaside sight after a pleasant stroll along
the port.
Golf Son Servera: The Son Servera Golf Course was one of
the first to be constructed in Majorca. Now days it is perfectly
well preserved besides being situated in a privileged site
surrounded by mountains and having forests next to the roads
leading to the greens. Besides, it is near the beach, and the
sea breeze relieves from the extreme heat of the summer. It is
an 18-hole course and a par 72. Most fairways are narrow and the
greens, situated between pine trees, are fast. It was designed
by John Harris and was opened in 1967. Son Servera is located on
the northern coast of the island at a distance of 71 kilometres
from Palma.
Pula Golf: The Pula Golf Club is one of the most
prestigious of the island since it has become a social event
besides being a splendid golf course. The club's restaurant,
s'Era de Pula, is frequently visited by members of the Spanish
Royas Family. The course was designed by Francisco López Segalés
and was opened in 1995. It has a total length of 6003 metres, is
rather flat and has excellent views of the mountains and the
sea. Pula Golf is situated on the road of Son Servera to
Capdepera at about seventy kilometres from Palma.
Golf Canyamel: The Canyamel Golf Course has 18 holes and
is 6080 metes long. The design of the course is magnificent
since the first nine holes are situated on hills receiving
directly the ocean breeze, making the course most pleasant. The
next nine greens are on flatter ground and allow players to show
their game. The Majorca style club building dominates part of
the course. The mountains of the municipality of Artà, on which
the club facilities are built, dominated the rest of the course,
creating a spectacular background scenery.
Golf Capdepera: The Golf Course at Capdepera is the most
recent in Majorca since it was opened in 1991. It is situated at
70 km from Palma, surrounded by mountains and far away from any
built up area, which could interfere in the ideal scenery. The
course has 18 holes and has a total length of 6284 metres long;
Dan Maples designed it. A long the rounde are six artificial
lakes. The club's main building is built in a typical Majorca
style, and its restaurant offers an excellent cuisine; a tasty
way to end a golf journey.
Golf Vall d'Or: This golf course was initially opened in
1985 with nine holes but has recently been increased to 18. As a
matter of fact holes number 10 to 18 wew the original first
nine. The course is 5799 metres long and is situated next to the
road of Santanyí at 65 km from Palma. The first greens (designed
by Bradford Benz) are found on hills surrounded by forests,
which makes their appearance quite impressive. The rest of the
course (designed by Billy Bandly) is undulated and very peculiar
being demarcated by olive trees and palm trees. The views from
the club's terraces are certainly breathtaking. |
