The "Pla" in the strict sense is an area of rolling
hillocks, located around Sineu and Sant Joan. This place
is surrounded by a series of deep valleys, such as
Palma, Inca and a part of Manacor, as well as part of
the Marineta area and the massif of Randa. It's a very
easy area for orography, in the centre of the island of
Majorca. Almost its entire expanse of land is assigned
to aghriculture and livestock and the towns thah the
area is formed by rely economically on agriculture.
The "Pla" comprises of the municipalities of Santa
Eugenia, Algaida, Llored de Vistalegre, Sencelles,
Costitx, Sineu, Llubi, Maria de la Salut, Montuïri,
Porreres, Vilafranca de Bonany, Sant Joan, Petra and
Ariany.
The suface area is 24,2 km2 and the fiestas: Sant Antoni
(January 17), La Beata (last week of July) and Santa
Bàrbara (December 4). |
